A 57-year-old Pahoa man is in police custody Thursday evening following a reported stabbing in Puna that sent a 32-year-old man to an Oahu hospital.

A 57-year-old Pahoa man is in police custody Thursday evening following a reported stabbing in Puna that sent a 32-year-old man to an Oahu hospital.

Daniel Holland was arrested Thursday morning on suspicion of first-degree assault after Hawaii Police Department officers responded to a reported stabbing around 9:40 a.m. in the Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision. At the scene, officers determined the 32-year-old had been stabbed with a knife in his upper abdomen.

The victim was transported to Hilo Medical Center and subsequently flown to The Queen’s Medical Center on Oahu, according to police.

Holland is being held at the Hilo police cellblock pending further investigation.
